The Rum Club

Over 170 varieties of rum from all over the world

The sea and rum belong together

They have always been closely connected. After all, it was Christopher Columbus who, on his second trip to the New World, introduced sugar cane to the Caribbean and thus laid the foundation for the later rum production.

In our Friesian tavern at Hotel Friese on Norderney you will find a huge selection of exotic rums, collected from all over the world.

Long matured in wooden barrels

In contrast to most other sugar cane brandies, good rum is characterised by long maturation in wooden barrels, similar to whisky or cognac. The longer the distillate matures in wooden barrels, the more rounded its aromatic taste will be. A side effect is the first yellowish, then brown colouring, which the initially colourless distillate assumes.

A highly varied and very special taste experience awaits you.

Or come to us to take part in one of our rum tastings, because this is certainly a good introduction for all those for whom rum is much too good to mix it with tea.
