The Rum club
Over 170 rum varieties from all over the world
Seafaring and rum belong together
They have always been closely linked. After all, it was Christopher Columbus who introduced sugar cane to the Caribbean on his second voyage to the New World and thus laid the foundations for later rum production.
In our Friesenschänke in the Hotel Friese on Norderney, you will find a huge selection of exotic rum specialities that we have collected for you from all over the world.
Matured for a long time in wooden barrels
In contrast to most other sugar cane spirits, good rum is characterised by long maturation in wooden barrels, similar to whisky or cognac. The longer the distillate matures in wooden barrels, the more rounded its aromatic flavour appears. A side effect is the yellowish, then brown colour that the initially colourless distillate takes on.
Great rum tasting at Rumclub Friesenschänke
Our selection of rums is very impressive - we stock over 170 varieties from all over the world. You can read a detailed description in our comprehensive rum menu or ask Sascha for personal advice.
The most varied and very special flavour experiences await you.
Or come to us to take part in one of our rum tastings, as this is certainly a good introduction for all those for whom rum is far too good to be put ‘in the tea’.
